Turning 25 was.... let's be honest a little depressing. I think mostly depressing since so many of our close friends, that have partied with us in Park City the past 4 years have moved or were out of town. However I'm so grateful for them "making me" still do Park City this year without them. I did miss them but I had a great time with my man, Kevin, Jessica, Natalie and Andrew. Seriously, I have wonderful siblings and Natalie/Andrew are wonderful friends. It was a little low key but it was simply exactly what I needed.

Saturday morning we woke up to attend the sealing of our great friend Joel at the Salt Lake Temple. It was a beautiful ceremony and I learned a lot. We were lucky to even have Mom and Dad G in town for the event. They treated me to a delicious birthday dinner at home.

Are you surprised with all of our visitors over the past couple of months? Everyone keeps asking what we have been up to and I say working and playing with visitors. It's been great!

Katie and Kendal came from Arizona and we had lots of fun! We have been having "withdrawals" of seeing them because we always have such a great time. They got to experience both the fall and winter seasons in Utah. It was the first really cold weekend that we have had this year- there was snow when we went to park city.

We went to sushi, park city, shopping, the boys went to the ASU/Utah game (while the girls went down town and lunch), ate some more, walked around the neighbor, talked a lot and just had a wonderful time.

Thanks Katie and Kendal! Hope to come visit you soon in Arizona! We wish we lived closer.

Labor Day Weekend

Mom and Dad came to drop Jessica off at school and to come visit us and see our new home. We had such a great time visiting! One thing we did was go to "Swiss Day's" in Midway, UT. I had never been before; but it was so fun and beautiful! Thanks Mom and Dad for visiting!

Elise came to visit and brought someone with her- his name is Dan and he is a great guy. We had a great time eating at some of Elise's favorite spots in the area, going to Salt Lake, going kayaking, making food, going on walks and talking. I am a little sad these are the only two pictures we took and I'm not in any of them, but I guess you will have to come visit again!

Moving really isn't my thing. Every time I have moved (luckily it's been extremely minimal) I get sick. So this was defiantly the largest move and me getting sick was defiantly in the picture too unfortunately. The day before we moved I got food poisoning and a week later I got the flu. I am so grateful for friends and family that helped us move. We really couldn't have done it without you. The pictures of the new home were just one day after moving in.

Hawaii 2011

Hawaii was wonderful and it was so nice to get away from work! Time was well spent hanging out at the pool, beach, shopping, walking around and eating food. Between all these intense activities there was a lot of laughter, good talks and relaxation. These silly hats were gifts from mom and dads trip; the boys wore them around and told people they were part of the Russian Ballet. Thanks Mom and Dad G.

St. George Memorial Weekend 2011

Over Memorial weekend we planned a little getaway vacation to St. George; to say goodbye to Erin and Cole- that was so difficult! Cole got a nice grown up job (we laughed about being "real people" - Erin's description the entire weekend long). It was the last time for a while the 6 of us could be together. Dan and Christine are next to say goodbye in a couple weeks for Medical School. I'm sad to see friends move but grateful for these lasting friendships. What made for an awesome weekend, is that these 3 cute boys are just as good friends as the 3 of us girls. We girls talked all weekend long about how lucky we are. The weekend consisted of makings good food, going out for good food, shopping, church and lots of time spent at the swimming pool.

We have so many wonderful people in our lives. I truly feel blessed. Many friends and family members across the country wanted updated pictures and many friends came out to see our home while it was being built (some came multiple times). Before Erin and Cole moved, we tried to get together as much as possible. They wanted to go see the house before they left and we went to dinner with Natalie, Andrew, Christine and Dan. After dinner we got to go to a spa on the top of a tall downtown Salt Lake building; it was beautiful thanks to Christine and her hook up.

Yes, I know I am soooo behind -but I'll document anyways. For Bryce's actual birthday I took him to lunch at his favorite place (mine too) Communal. For dinner we actual had a new home builders party to go to. Over the next few days our friends the Bodells took us to Taconos- so fun and the Claytons took us to Bonsai- so yummy and we had a large Sunday dinner with good friends! Sheyra helped me plan a "Dominican night" for the mission buddies to get together. It was so awesome of her to help teach me to cook Dominican style. The boys loved playing domino's while talking and listening to dominican music. It was a lot of fun! Thank you to everyone for making his day so special!

One year ago today I was laid off. That was one of the most emotional time that I have gone through. The "rejection" feeling was awful. Luckily, I was hired and started a bran new career a couple short weeks after that; it has seriously changed my world and for the better. When Bryce asked me how did I remember the exact date this past weekend? I replied, it was Elise's birthday- which I never forget! So Happy Birthday to the greatest friend and happy anniversary of a specific trail in my life that turned into a blessing which happened so quick. I'm feeling grateful.

Elise's Graduation Gift

Elise graduated from college the week before Christmas! However, that made it challenging to take some time off and spend the money to make it to her graduation. Even worse, was my nightmare that I would plan on going and end up missing it due to a winter storm between Salt Lake and Denver. So I asked Elise if she would rather me come to graduation or if she would like us to do something special over the holiday instead. Elise was a terrific sport as always, so understanding and she voted to do something over the holiday. So I planned a fun girls night at the Marriott Newport Hotel and Spa. It was an awesome location- right next to Fashion Island, Sprinkles and Taco Rosa! So we had fun playing at the hotel, in the spa, shopping and meeting up with our best childhood friend Nicole. I had a great time and I'm glade that Elise and I got to spend some time together before her new "Big Girl Job" which meant a change of location. I already miss her! I am so lucky that Bryce values my friendships and supported me spending the time and money to do this.

Sorry for the long break from the blog. I just couldn't take any time away from the fun activities and holidays to post something. We were so LUCKY to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas in California. We loved seeing family and friends. The food was amazing and the memories are unforgettable. We really enjoyed a wonderful Christmas season. I told Bryce this year that each Christmas season just keeps getting better.

We enjoyed many parties and activities including: Rise Staff Party, Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert, "College kids from back home" dinner, Mission buddies Christmas Party, Rise Coordinator Awards/Lunch Party, making green salsa for friends and neighbors, making mint dipped oreo's for work friends, seeing Temple Square with lights and nativities, AXA dinner at Tucano's, giving another family Christmas, seeing family and friends, going Christmas caroling, Coordinator's Christmas Party at Kristin's, Office "Secret Santa" and Christmas lunch, Christmas cards and Christmas shopping! We feel so blessed and lucky to have so many wonderful friends and family and to have so many opportunities.

Birthday's just keep getting better, the older I get! Bryce is so good to me for my Birthday! It was so special to be with family this year for my birthday. However, the following week Elise came to visit me for my birthday! I feel so special that she has came the past 3 years to celebrate my birthday with me. We had a lot of fun eating out and shopping of course! We also went to Park City to stay at the Marriott and had a lovely dinner with close friends. We love staying at the Marriott Vacation Club for my birthday (it means we get to go swimming)! I seriously feel so blessed to have the best friends ever! Most of the friends that came to Park City have been my friends for MANY years. It was so wonderful to be around them. I received sweet cards from so many friends and family, fun phone calls singing happy birthday, and very generous gifts. It was a wonderful birthday. Thank you for making my birthday so great! I felt like we were celebrating all month long!

Busy Month! So much fun with family!

Bryce and I have been busy with little trips. We went to St. George over Halloween weekend to see our wonderful friends Missionary Farewell. It was so wonderful! We absolutely love Dian and Bunk! They have been incredible family friends for so many years! They have always been so loving and generous to me. Bryce and I had a lot of fun, having one on one time with my parents and also with their Family! (I forgot my camera for that trip)

The next weekend we went to Idaho to be with my sister Michelle and her family! It was my nephew, Parkers baptism. I am so glade that we were invited, so early and had planned to attend. Parker invited me over the 4th of July weekend when they were visiting. It touched my heart that he knew the exact day of his baptism- at that time and that he invited me! We had a great time! Bryce was happy with watching a lot of football and good food. I was so happy being around family, including all my nieces and nephews that were there! Aren't they so cute?!

It's been busy but I didn't want to forget this

It has been a very busy couple of months and I have a ton to update on this blog! But I don't like to skip ahead; so, I will journey back to Conference weekend and write down a few things or thoughts. I am so grateful for Conference! Not only is it amazing to go and hear the words of a prophet and to be spiritually feed ,I find it to be a wonderful time to reflect on the past 6 months. The past 6 months have been crazy but there have been so many blessings that I don't want to forget!

First of all, I was laid off from the roofing company that I loved. The feelings and emotions were rough! But, guess what?! Finding a new job was a blessing and so exciting! I started working VERY quickly for a company called RISE as their Family Support Coordinator. Finally something that could challenge me, give my supervisor experience and value/apply my schooling! Basically what I do in a "nut shell" is: I coordinate between the DSPD worker from the State, Families with individuals with disabilities and staff. I hire and train staff (Family Support Professionals) to work with individuals with disabilities. The Families who I work with have individuals in their biological families that get services through DSPD funding. However, a large part of the company works with Professional Parents (Foster Parents). I think my job is amazing! It is difficult, stressful, and challenging at times; but I love being busy, feeling like I make a difference in people's life and being creative.

A wonderful family friend of ours, Dian has told me a number of times about what a wonderful planner I am. She told me at a very young age I kept my planner close to me and would keep my mom on schedule: reminding her what was "the plan", and what needed to get done. Therefore, I feel like I can do a great job working at this position. I keep track (try to keep track) of many different schedules!

Second of all, my Dad was diagnosed with cancer this summer. Oh my goodness was that difficult for me! Words can't even describe the feelings and emotions that I felt during this time. However, there were so many blessings that came our way. I am so appreciative of friends that helped me cope with this situation and all the friends and family members that offered warm thoughts and prayers. Bryce was the best husband ever during this time for me. I did not want to write my personal feelings and details on the blog about this but I do want to recognize this experience and tell people that blessings come from the most difficult situations in life.

These were the two main things that I reflected a lot on during the Conference time. Again, I think it's critical that we stop and reflect on our lives. It's incredible to me to see how much I have grown and learned the past six months. My heart feels full as I think about it. It's a great time of the year to feel grateful.

Conference Weekend

Conference Weekend was wonderful as always! It was nice and warm for a change- which made me really happy! This is a tradition of ours, that the Goettel family comes to spend time with us at Conference. We really love it and this year was no exception. Vegas

Last month we got away for a weekend to VEGAS! Nothing in particular in Vegas, just a central location to meet up with Bryce's cousin Kendal and his wife Katie from Arizona. We had so much fun! It was a pretty mellow weekend that included: the pool, spa, hotel rooms, pedicures (for the girls), yummy food, a movie and walking/driving around "the strip". It was a WONDERFUL trip that we hope to do again soon!

Utah State Fair

The Clayton's invited us again this year to the State Fair. It was fun as always! We feel so lucky to spend time with their entire family and blessed that they include us and consider us family. I LOVE them so much and can't get enough of the kid's calling me "Micole"- it just melts my heart. Aren't they adorable?

Summer Fun!

Did I mention how nice San Diego was with LeAnn? In case you were wondering it was WONDERFUL! I have to apologize that I don't have many pictures from our San Diego trip. I think I end up taking more pictures with the Nelson's because Jessica LOVES to take pictures and have pictures taken of the family. However, I can't say enough about how nice this trip home was! However, I have cute pictures to prove it!

After that, round # two of my spoiling started with: Mom, Dad, Jessica, Tonya, JR, and the nieces and nephews. We went to Balboa Island one night, had a sleep over with my niece at LeAnn's, went to the Marriott in Newport Beach, had a Sprinkles Cupcake party (in celebration of mom's 60th birthday), went to a favorite Mexican restaurant (where I almost died from heat in the mouth-beautiful scene of me red in the face, panicked and scared), shopping, swimming, beach time etc.

This year while Bryce went to Alaska, I got to go play in California! LeAnn planned a wonderful trip to San Diego, for just the two of us! Time was well spent enjoying the pool, the Dodgers vs Padres game, Old Town Mexican food and shopping!

4th of July

We had a BUSY 4th of July. It was wonderful! Of course we went to the ward/neighborhood breakfast, swimming at the Peters, lunch with the Clayton's, movie with my sister's (Tonya and Michelle) their kids (my cute nieces and nephews) and my brothers in-laws. It was so much fun that Michelle's family was visiting! We had a great time watching fireworks, playing with sparklers, eating and playing together!

We went beach camping back in June with the Goettel's. It was so much fun with lots of cousins and cute kids. The little girls loved teasing back and forth with Bryce and I enjoyed them cuddling with me for protection. Oh, and I have to mention Annie! This picture is of her and I. What can I say about her? Well we bonded if you can't see and I can't wait till the next time I can see her! We loved every minute, except for the uncomfortable sleeping part. Thanks to Meredith we have pictures of the trip!

Boulder, CO

We finally made it out to Boulder to visit Elise, almost 2 months ago. We had a fabulous time walking around town, eating yummy food, and hanging out- just the three of us!

Our funny story of driving home (when we had already bought tickets), went like this....for those who haven't heard. Bryce was so kind to take care of purchasing our plane tickets, since I was stressed with finding a new job/accepting a new job, and the sight of seeing the flights go up in price right before my eyes was stressing me out!

We flew out Saturday thinking we would be returning Monday evening. As we were checking out of the hotel Monday we were trying to print out our boarding passes. The screen kept on saying: "Code invalid" ??? I was so frustrated, I called the airline to see what was going on?! She said, Mam your flight was yesterday! I almost died!

However, Bryce and I worked as an awesome team calling/checking flight prices on-line as well as rental car prices. One company quoted us $70 to rent a car one way from Denver to Salt Lake. As a result, we decided to go for that over the very pricey flights for the same day. When we got to the rental car location, they lady handed me the keys and said we will see you here tomorrow- I looked at her and said no we are dropping off the car in Salt Lake. She said, no it would cost much more than that- laughing at me. We then "debated" back and forth explaining we would of bought the flights instead but decided to go this route because of the price and the flights had already left. It was a stressful hour, but the manager decided to make it work- THANK YOU!

The 8 hour drive wasn't bad, we had a good time, laughed a lot. However, we decided that it's best when I spend the hours prior to a trip planning out the details- in hopes that this wouldn't happen again!

I have a lot to update about! I'm sorry I am just too busy to update details/pictures right now. However, here are a few things that I will post about later:

1. I was blessed to only be unemployed for a VERY short time!

2. I found an awesome new job, which I LOVE.

3. We flew to Boulder, Colorado this past weekend to visit ELISE. Had an AMAZING time!

4. We DROVE back from Boulder, instead of flying--- Yes it is a great story! I'll share details later.

We were so lucky to see family two weekends in a row! Our first was in Oregon and our second was here in Salt Lake. Brett and Julia were in town and so were Michelle and Nathan and family. Bryce and I, last minute decide to have everyone over for Sunday dinner. We pulled it off with yummy food and a good time with family.

Don't judge the pictures :)

I know it's been a couple of weeks and many of you have already heard however, I HAVE to record it. I ran my very first half marathon in Salt Lake City April 17th 2010. I followed a training schedule and worked hard at it for a couple of months.

The day before the race caused a little bit of a hiccup- being laid off caused a great deal of emotions. Even so, I knew I had put in all the effort to do the race so that's what I did. The race went so well. I felt really comfortable. I had a wonderful time thinking and reflecting on all sorts of things.

When I made it to the 12th mile ish and saw the Salt Lake City LDS Temple I became emotional. I thought about the early Pioneers of the church; their trials, strength and accomplishments. It made me realize that I too can "do hard things". Even though my race was optional and shouldn't be compared to all that they went through; I felt a great deal of peace and love that my Heavenly Father has for me as I continued on to the finish line.

I'm so grateful that my body was healthy for me to accomplish this goal of mine. I didn't experience shin splits or horrible tendinitis; for that I'm feel very lucky. I'm thankful that in the "eye of a storm" I can find peace, comfort and love. This feeling has continued on with me the past couple of weeks; in particular- when at times things haven't been easy. It's not easy to be out of your "comfort zone" and be job hunting. However, I know I am growing and learning and that this was all meant to be. I am grateful for great friends, family and for the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Laid off

As many of you know, I was laid off from my job last Friday. The news came as a shock to me, despite the current economy- specifically the building industry. It was rough news to hear and resulted in me being very emotional (it was not easy).

I had worked there for about 2 1/2 years and I became very close (like family) to many of the employees there. I learned a lot and have grown substantially these past 2 1/2 years professionally and academically. I am so very grateful for the experiences that I have had there and in general in these past few years.

The job feel into place 2 1/2 years ago because it was the right time and the right place for me. I will always be grateful for that job. It was my first office job, where I learned a lot about business and grew and matured.

Despite being sad going through this, I feel a great deal of peace that another job will come at the right time(sometime soon hopefully) and will be the right fit for me.Change is hard but change is so good. Change will force me to continue to grow, mature and develop new skills. Even though I was devastated leaving my old job, I am really looking forward to the new career that is out there ahead of me.

Just an update..... I have been sending out resumes to some companies that I'm really excited about! I even am starting to get some calls for interviews. If you are hiring, know of someone or, a company that is please let me know. I sincerely appreciate the help, the kind thoughts and prayers.

Beautiful Weekend in Oregon

We had an incredible time visiting Oregon last weekend. We went to be with Brett and Julia as they sealed their baby and blessed him. The sealing and blessing was so touching. It was so worth it to spend the money to be there with them as well as the rest of the family. All six of us kids were together for the first time in almost 3 years- I think? We have always been missing one or two siblings. The country side was beautiful! I loved it.We also go to see one of my best friend's, Jeanette. She has been going to dental hygiene school in Portland for the past two year. It was an amazing weekend! Loved seeing you all.

Easter/ Conference Weekend

Easter just happened to be on Conference Sunday this year. Yes, I believe I noticed this back in January and have been thrilled about it ever since (except my new Easter dress didn't look so beautiful when I was laying in bed watching Conference Sunday morning instead, of it being a beautiful day and going to the Conference Center)!

Conference is extra special for us because, Mom and Dad Goettel always try to be here for Conference weekend. It's a time that I can count on them coming for a visit and it is always so much fun. The weekend consisted of seeing friends and family, eating at Two Jacks Pizza in Spanish Fork (a favorite), Five Guys Burgers and Fries (another favorite), going to Conference and also watching it in bed (multiple sessions), eating more food and candy, hearing the words of the prophets, hearing the beautiful music and feeling the spirit. We also go to go to the hotel hot tube, a bridal shower, and laughed a lot.

On Easter we had a lot of wonderful friends and family come over for dinner. Dinner was just lovely with so many people in our home. I feel my grandmothers amazing sense of hospitality and it makes me miss her and want to become more like her each and every day. I know she was proud of me the other day in particular. A friend of mine and me dipped over 200 oreo's for my Young Women and for Easter treats. They turned out so delicious and pretty ( if I can say so myself).

I wanted to make Easter/Conference weekend special. So I made " 14 Day Walk With Christ" packets for my Young Women. It's something my Young Women leaders did for me when I was 15 and have always remembered. Each day the girls have an envelop that they open that has a question, a scripture, something to ponder about throughout the day, and let's not forget a treat! I have a sense of accomplishment when I have a good idea and follow through with it making it happen. I felt prompted to do this for my Young Women. I'm hoping it has made them feel closer to the Savior because afterall, that is why we celebrate Easter and have General Conference.

I am so looking forward to this weekend. It has been a LONG month. It will be so wonderful to spend lots of time with my hubby and not have "too many items on my agenda list" (wishing the list doesn't double over night).

On a side note... I talked to my Dad today. It's not everyday that I get to talk to my Dad.

I love how my Dad and I connect so well. We understand each other, even when the rest of the world is thinking I'm crazy. He has always known what to say and when to say it. He is so patient and meek. I will forever love being daddy's little girl. Thanks Dad for knowing exactly what to say. I love you always.

I really appreciate the sweet comments, in regards to the last post. It gave me great motivation for my long run on Saturday. Just an update- I ran 8 miles on Saturday! On top of that, I felt wonderful the entire time. I have been on a "running high" ever since. I'm thrilled! It's been many years since I have ran 8 miles. That run alone has made me think very positive that I can run the entire 13.1 miles in a few short weeks! Thanks for the support.

I have been getting back into running. I say back because, I like to fantasied that in my past life I loved running and did a ton of it. Okay, it wasn't that long ago and it was so true.... I was playing soccer year round and on the cross country and track team, not too long ago. I loved running!

I believe my love of running started at the beginning of my life and kinda disappeared for a while (I blame it on my "evil" running coach in high school that hated me- I can tell you stories if you ask about it). When I was little, I loved to race anyone- even race myself up and down the stairs in my home. I was also always looking for someone to race against. I remember saying to my Dad a lot growing up, "Hey Dad race me down the street" or "Hey Dad I'll race you around the track".

However, my love for racing came from my childhood neighbors Mike and Judy. They signed me up for my first 5K run when I was in elementary school. I can still remember specifics of that day. From then on, for many years, I participated in many: 5K runs, 10k runs, mini triathlons, and 3 mile cross country runs, and enjoyed the "high" from running up and down the soccer field.

Long story short- maybe I'll share some specific details later but I kind of stopped running. When I say "kind of"- I mean I would run at the gym every now and then but mostly did the elliptical or bike so not too much running.

However, I am back into a running routine. Let me tell you- it's a strict running routine in order to help me not only get into shape (which I hope shows sometime soon- I have been waiting...) but to reach a goal of running a half marathon. No, I have never done one before- why not now? Will I be doing a full marathon next- probably NO! It's been really hard training for this run. A lot of things have came up threatening to make this goal not a reality- but I won't allow it. The race is paid for and I'm determined to do it.

I'm not sure how "fast or slow" I will be or if I will even be able to run the "entire time" but I am determined. So if you have any advice let me know- other than poor advice of "don't do it". People I don't need any negative vibes, thank you.

I have a lot of interesting ideas, stories, thoughts etc. when I run. Maybe I should share them in the future? We will see....It would be so much easier if my brain would type my "posts" on this blog for me. But it's probably a good thing it doesn't- because some ideas have to be censored.

2009 was great but Bryce and I both believe 2010 will be even greater.

It's so fun to go home to California but so nice to come back to our home in Sandy. We have been busy getting into the swing of things. A big adjustment with Bryce's new work schedule. However, all has gone well and were grateful for our talents and opportunities.

Oh and and we celebrated Jessica's 19th birthday. Being her "Utah Mom" has been rough at times(I have been told I'm too protective) but so much fun most of the time. She is a beautiful girl and I love her to pieces.

I know I shouldn't miss out on posting about Christmas but, now it seems like so long ago. So I will try to sum it up.

IT WAS AWESOME!!!

Okay, I'll share a little more......

Christmas Eve we enjoyed the Goettel traditions of a lovely meal, making a quit (for someone in need), sharing the Christmas Story, along with lots of laughter.

Christmas Morning was great at the Nelson's. We enjoyed opening gifts, having a visitor to share Christmas Morning with (the brother of a dear family friend) and a yummy breakfast (my mom made an egg dish that I feel in love with).

The sad news on Christmas morning was that Elise was in the hospital with a staff infection. However, that didn't stop us from seeing each other Christmas morning. Bryce and I went to the hospital to share a little more of Christmas with Elise, Mike and Judy. We had a wonderful time despite being in a hospital.

Later we went to the Goettels. Yes, Christmas never ends once you get married and have double the family (which means double the fun)! We enjoyed opening more gifts, snacking, making enchiladas, having the missionaries over and playing games.

The rest of the week before going home was wonderful in Sunny Southern California. We went to the movies, saw the play "Marry Poppins", meet up with dear friends, did some shopping, went on lots of walks and ate yummy food.

Christmas Eve Morning

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day can be stressful trying to balance two families and to be "fair"- my favorite word. Bryce and I decided before our first Christmas and have continued to do so since then, that Christmas Eve and Christmas morning at the two specific highlights of the Christmas season. So we believe one family should enjoy our company for one and the other family for the other. And we can't be only 2 miles away from both families and not see both families on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. So our Christmas Eve and Christmas day are split as is one family gets us Christmas Eve from about 9 am-3pm and then gets us Christmas Morning about 9 am-3pm. On the other hand our other family gets us Christmas Eve night from about 3 pm-9pm and then again Christmas about 3 pm-9pm. Yes it is crazy but we can't help it we just love to spend time with both families.

Bryce passed his last exam to be a licensed Financial Advisor two days before Christmas. It was seriously our "Christmas miracle" this year and we feel so blessed to have it over with. We are so grateful for all the support and encouragement this year from friends and family. Thank you, thank you! And yes, I am a proud happy wiffy of a Financial Advisor!

Fun Weekend in December

Mom and Dad Goettel came to visit in December this year! It was a much needed trip, since they were unable to come to Utah for Conference in October. We had a great time hanging out, shopping, eating, going to the tabernacle choir concert and having friends over for Sunday dinner. Unfortunately I didn't take my camera around shopping nor to the concert! I am sad because we didn't get any amazing pictures after the concert at beautiful temple square! However, enjoy the group shoot from Sunday dinner. Thank you mom and dad for coming to visit us and spoiling us with your company! Come again really soon :)

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was wonderful this year! The weather was amazing almost 80 degrees- it was just perfect!

We enjoyed dinner at my parents house (The Nelson's). It was a beautiful table with lots of yummy food and most importantly wonderful friends and family. Thanksgiving was a little more exciting this year because our friends, Jared and Kathleen came to my parents house.

Jared and Kathleen were married this past May and Bryce was a groomsmen while I on the other hand was a bridesmaid. The four of us have such a good time together but Jared and Kathleen moved this past August to California so that Jared could go to physical therapy school. Lucky for us not to far away from our parents so they spent some time with us.

After dinner we went to the movies to see: A Christmas Carol. It was fun for us watching it in 3d but I'm not sure how much a young child would of enjoyed it? The ghost were a little scary.

Later we went over to the Goettels for pie. Pie was great and we have a good time visiting.

Our families were good to us as always. We loved seeing everyone and spending time with people we care about. We spent sometime at the beach and loved it.

I'm still dreaming about the weather, the ocean, yummy food and how perfect it was!

Yes my birthday was a month ago but it was so great I had to document.

This year I turned 23! And everyone that knows me knows that I am one happy birthday girl! I love to celebrate other's birthdays by making them special and that doesn't exclude my own! I had a fabulous day.

For the first time in 5 years I was able to spend my birthday with my parents. My parents came to Utah for my niece's baptism. It was special to be at her baptism on my birthday. I love her so much and enjoyed seeing family.

I planned for my birthday to be flexible and easy going because of family events and it worked out just great. I received lots of cards, phone calls, text messages etc from friends and family whom I love. THANK YOU.

We walked around the mall and ate dinner at a favorite place called Bonsai. It was yummy!

However, the big birthday plans waited a week. My best friend Elise came to visit from Colorado. I love her so much and enjoy my birthdays much more when she spends the day with me! We went to Park City with some friend. Thank you for all that came, I love you all! Even those who couldn't come- all who didn't come and want to come next year just let me know! We went to the Baja Cantina right by the Marriott Mountain Side Vacation Club Resort. It was yummy and fun to be surrounded by so many friends. Afterwards we went to the hotel and we all enjoyed going to the 7 hot tubs, playing pool and watching sports. Then we had birthday cake. My sister Jessica made a fun fitti cake and on her card she said she loved me more than Fun Fitti Cake- which is a lot of love because her and I both love that cake.

The accommodations were wonderful as always. Then when we woke up in the morning Bryce went to pick up bagels for everyone. Once we had to check out we ran over to the outlets. We love shopping at those Park City Outlets!! Got some great deals and then hurried home before the snow storm got any worse.

I feel so blessed to have wonderful friends, family and the best husband ever. Thank you all. Love you.

4th Day in New York

We went to Church in New Jersey. It was a wonderful ward with strong testimonies of the gospel.

Afterwards we went to the Rockefeller Center again because we hadn't used our tickets to go to the Top of the Rock yet. We really enjoyed the sights from the Top of the Rock and watching people ice skate at the Rockefeller Center. We walked around for the most part.

And of course we ate! Food in New York was simply amazing.

It was also the day of the New York Marathon- if only I knew a few weeks prior to get into shape! Who am I kidding it would of taken longer than that! But it was neat to see all the different runners that came from all over the world to run this marathon.

Later that afternoon we went to Ground Zero which was awesome to see the building that they are working on. Also we walked through China Town and Little Italy. Wish we had more time to eat! However, we meet a good high school friend of mine in East Village for a yummy dinner and nice get together. It was really good to see her. She really helped me map out of trip.

3rd Day in New York

Funny story about Bryce and his wedding ring...just ask him about it!

Our third day in New York was Halloween. It was so much fun seeing everyone around the city dressed up.

We went to the Statue of Liberty Park and Ellis Island. It was a beautiful day. We really lucked out with the weather. It was warm for the end of October early November.

Afterwards we walked and walked. We walked through all of lower Manhattan. We were told the Brooklyn Bridge wasn't too far away however, we walked the longest way possible hugging the east side when we actually needed to be almost central because you can't get on the bridge along the coast you have to be inland quit a few blocks.

We walked the Bridge which was beautiful and a great experience except the four of us were tired of walking, tired in general and hungry and the walking didn't stop there. Once we got off the bridge in Brooklyn we went to Grimald's pizza place. Were again we were told only a few blocks away. Wrong again it was more like another 2 miles! Once we got to Grimald's around 4 in the afternoon there was a long line outside. Luckily I went looking for a snack and discovered the best ice cream place! So I came back to the line eating my treat before dinner. Dinner was wonderful and afterwards we all went to get an ice cream. If you know me you know I'm not crazy over ice cream however, this little old lighthouse under the Brooklyn Bridge was wonderful!

Afterwards we were off to go see Lion King. Lion King was amazing as promised by many. I really loved it.

2nd Day in New York

For our second day in New York we enjoyed going to see "Live with Regis and Kelly". It was so much fun especially because it was there Halloween episode and everyone had to dress up. Even though we dressed up REALLY SIMPLE (our hotel was not close to the studio and we didn't want to be dressed up all day) we saw some really awesome costumes.

We also went the well know Tavern on the Green for lunch. I LOVED going there it wasn't just a yummy lunch it was an experience that I will always remember. The vintage traditional style was beautiful and the gardens surrounding it were majestical.

Afterwards we walked through Central Park and then went on a carriage ride through the park. It was so beautiful in October! If I could live close to Central Park in New York City I would be one happy girl (at least for awhile)!

Then we were off to the Natural History Museum of Art. We loved it! The animal exhibits were so cool.

First Day in New York!

The first day of New York was so exciting. We walked miles as we were drown to go down "one more street". We covered all of Times Square (in my books) and had such a great time. We went to this beautiful pizza place called John's Cathedral pizza which was located in an old Cathedral. We went to St. Patrick's, Magnolias for amazing cupcakes, Macy's, and Rockefeller Center. We were lucky enough to get tickets to go see the Late Show with David Letterman. Surprisingly he was pretty clean that night (thank heavens!) and as an extra treat Weezer was the guest band. Bryce and I were so happy to find that out. We LOVE Weezer. After the Late Show, because I honestly was falling asleep for his show (but was wide awake for Weezer) we went back to the hotel. After all, Bryce and I did take the red eye in that morning. Meanwhile my parents saw Phantom and loved it. One day Bryce and I will go see Phantom but for now I was so happy that my Dad finally got to see it for the first time! Here are some pictures from the first day don't mind the red eyes and quality. If I had to edit my pictures they would never make the blog!

Ev, from work invited Bryce and I to visit them over the weekend in Mayfield to go 4 wheeling. Brenda- Ev's wife was a lovely host. She cooked a yummy lunch and dinner. We had a very fun Night of Excellence this year. We did an Oscar theme and had all the girls dress up, walk down the red carpet, share with us their projects and many of them performed with dance or song. It was a lovely night with these wonderful girls and there parents. Aren't these girls beautiful and oh so talented! I love them!

Fall 2009

It's really feeling like fall here in Utah, occasionally winter already! I have been protesting that summer is leaving (trying to wear my shorts and short sleeve shirts a couple more times before it's too cold and not to mention trying to go swimming whenever possible). However, I have been needing a sweater each morning for work.

This has been the very first fall that I haven't been in school- it is somewhat difficult. I think I rather go to school full time and work part time but there is a season for all things! I truly believe we can do it all- just not all at once.

However, this fall has been very fun so far. I really enjoy my friends from school that are back in Utah- I really missed them this summer. It has also been so much fun having so many of our siblings up here for school. We now our proud older siblings to have Colby, Kevin and Jessica up here for school along with Tonya and her family that live in Draper.

I am enjoying being Jessica's big sister so much, we truly belong to be close together. I not sure how Jessica and Bryce feel about being so close together now- they can really tease each other. But they both know each other would do anything for the other. It has been trying yet humorous to TRY to teach Jessica how the "grid" system works here in Utah. She said, "I think I'm going North but why does it say 300 South and then 200 South". haha It can be frustrating once you have explained it a number of times but nonetheless hilarious!

Bryce, Kevin, Jessica and myself went to a family reunion. It was a lot of fun despite many didn't come. Here are some pictures before we went. The one picture of me with the older women is the last living sibling from my Grandma and Grandpa Olsen. She is Omera, my Grandpa Olsen's sister. I just loved talking to her as well as her children, grandchildren and my cousins on the Olsen side. Thanks for planning a family reunion and all my other family on the Olsen side- I miss you.

Zac and Sheyra were sealed

Zac and Sheyra were sealed in the Bountiful temple this summer. It was such a privilege for Bryce and I to be there. We love Zac and Sheyra- they are wonderful friends. Utah State Fair

Bryce and I went to our first Utah State Fair- thanks to Mark and Kathy Clayton! They have invited us to so many fun things this summer and we are truly grateful. The fair was a lot of fun of course! We were a big group: Mark and Kathy Clayton with there 3 other kids and spouses, and 8 grandchildren. It was so fun to watch the kids with the animals. Here are some pictures. 2nd year Wedding Anniversary

Can you believe it? 2 years has gone by and we are even more in love. This post has been a bit delayed, I'm sorry. We celebrated our 2nd year wedding anniversary August 4th, 2009. Since Bryce just got back from Alaska and I just got back from California, we decided to stay home this year. Don't you worry, we are planning trips for the next 1000 years together! We thought about going to either a Bee's game or Owl game (not the Dodgers or Angels but that's okay) but we were so tired from our trips! Instead we went to see the movie "The Proposal" and went to Ruby River Steakhouse! It was so much fun to talk about our wedding, honeymoon, move to Utah and all the exciting/funny things that have taken place the past two years. It was also a great time to talk about dreams and goals of ours for the next few years! I love you Bryce and love that we celebrate our marriage everyday by just being together and treating each other well.

They just moved to California, and we are really sad. I'm slightly jealous that there in California and were in Utah but, oh well. Thank you wonderful friends in Utah, I don't know what I would do without you! We were really sad about them moving however, they are living about 30 minutes from both of our parent's in California for the next 3 years and there families still live in Utah. The four of us really can't ask for anything more! We will still grow as friends and see each other multiple times a year. Before they left, Jared cooked Korean BBQ at there house for the four of us. As you can tell from pictures it was so fun to sit on the ground and have the little BBQ right in the middle of us. On top of that, that food was yummy! Thanks Jared and Kathleen. We love you and miss you already!

A weekend with Justin= Baseball, Food and Fun!

A childhood best friend of mine came to Utah a couple weeks ago. He called a few days before and said he would be coming to both Ogden and Orem for baseball. I was so excited to hear from him! He grew up across the street from me and I have watched him for years play ball.. Unfortunately, we have not been able to see each other for the past two years so it was so exciting for him and Bryce to meet. Were hoping after this last trip we won't go another two years without seeing each other. We took Justin to Sundance for lunch; one of my very favorite spots in Utah. The three of us really enjoyed each other's company, the food and the beauty of the mountains. Bryce and I were also able to see two of his games and have him over for Sunday dinner at our place. Bryce and I forgot how much we love watching games! Kevin, my brother joined us too with a date. We had a great time watching the ball game and eating dip n dots! So if you ever have free tickets or cheap tickets to a game let us know or we can find some together!

Graduation Gift

4th of July

I can't get enough of these silly, beautiful, loving little girls!

This year was the best 4th of July ever, being away from California. Holidays are always difficult away from family and the traditions that we grew up doing. However, our ward family (church friends) this year really took care of us. Our 4th of July started with the traditional breakfast at the Saxey's backyard. They have a huge and lovely backyard where there were tons of people from the ward and the neighborhood. They make eggs and pancakes while everyone else brings different side dishes; it's a lot of fun. After the breakfast we had a few things to do around the house like fixing the roof and the swamp cooler- not so much fun. Afterwards we joined friends at the Peters home for swimming. They have a wonderful pool (it's heated) and are amazing, always, welcoming family. Bryce think's we will be there every night this summer- I told the Peter's they might want to put restriction on the open invitation. haha As if they don't do enough they cooked hot dogs too. Later in the evening we went to the Clayton's (our family here in Utah) and enjoyed being with them, there kids and grandkids. We really can't get enough of there family! Kathy grilled some amazing steaks on the BBQ! Later that evening we went to Sandy City Hall area where they had a parade, booths, bands and great friends (Claytons and Christensen's).

It was a great 4th of July! I would like to say thank you to all our amazing friends here in Utah.

Favorite things from this Hawaii trip...

Second time around with the Goettel family to Hawaii was so much fun. Can I say it was a bit more comfortable and more fun than last time when we were engaged? It was so relaxing to eat, lay out, swim in the pool and ocean, drink strawberry daiquiri's. Here are my highlighted list of our trip.

1. Being bumped up to first class for free! It was so enjoyable to lay down and eat yummy food.

2. Seeing Pierce Brosnan and being just rows away from him, his wife and boys. I even saw his dog. Yes, I was very excited when I pointed him at to the boys (Bryce, Cam and Colby).

3. Laying out

4. Not wearing make-up

5. Not blow drying my hair everyday

6. Going to church on the Island- love the people

7. Eating with a bunch of boys. Amazing food! We took turns cooking every meal and the Goettel Family really knows how to cook and eat!

8. Can I add Hula pie being different than just eating? Loved Hula pie at Duke's!

9. Swimming in the "relaxation pool"

10. Swimming at the beach- Saw a turtle close up

11. Drinking virgin strawberry daiquiris

12. Shopping at Macy's and scoring big on a sale! Don't believe me just ask how much I paid for my cute clothes.

13. Working out in the gym that had a private TV with cable on the elliptical machine. Come on 24hr fitness in Sandy City- you need to do some upgrades!

14. Going on the zip lines!

The list can go on and on but I'll end there. And just so you know the order of favorite things isn't necessarily in any particular order. Until next time Hawaii, I'll miss you

Jessica's Graduation!

This must be the year of graduations, how exciting! My baby sister Jessica graduated from high school in June. I can't believe she is 18 and ready for college (my parent's are going to be so sad to see the baby of the family leave). On the other hand, I am so trilled to have a sister join the rest of us here in Utah! She may be the baby of the family which makes me annoyed or jealous at times, but it is impossible not to love her! She is so talented in her artwork and so gorgeously tall and beautiful! Jessica I love you so much, and I feel so lucky to have you as my baby sister. She is seriously the best little sister. We really enjoy dancing around together, talking, laughing, pedicures, shopping, beach and everything else! It was so exciting to go to her graduation and show our support, after all we have found it difficult to be in California for every family event to support members of the family. It was a very special occasion to have 5 out of 6 Nelson kids together along with spouses. It has always made me sad that Jessica and I never were in Middle School nor High School together but now we can enjoy each other while she's in college. Congratulations Jessica!

Cake Heaven!

If you know me at all, you know that I LOVE CAKE. It's a really funny story... I hated cake as a child, so I always had frozen yogurt pies for my birthday. However, when I got my tonsils removed my senior year in high school, I didn't eat for days. The first food that came to my mind after days of not eating and laying on the couch was cake! Sure enough, cake hit the spot and I have loved it ever since.

Well for Young Women's we learned how to decorate cake's with fondunt. You better believe it, I was there on time and one of the last to leave! I had such a good time attempting to decorate my own cake while looking at the girls cakes. We were all talking about how the girls could take turns decorating each other's wedding cakes one day.

After watching all the cake shows, I was really excited to make my own. My cake turned out okay, but you better believe it once my oven starts working again (or we move) I will be experimenting on my own creative abilities. As long as it taste good, count me in!

Can you believe it, COLLEGE GRADUATION?

Well, as most of you know Bryce graduated December 2008 but they don't have a ceremony until April. As a result, Bryce and I have really been looking forward to April because I too would be graduating and we could walk together.

I always knew I would graduate from college, however the feeling is just unbelievable when huge goals are achieved. Since I was a child my parents, family, neighbors, friends, teachers, coaches and leaders taught me and have helped mold the person I would become. If I didn't get enough from them about going to college, I had lots of wonderful friends and neighbors keeping their eyes on me. :)

One neighbor in particular was the Mintz family. They always were checking in on me (and my siblings) making sure I was taking advantage and achieving a scholastic education. When I was became engaged, like other close friends and family they were concerned that I would not graduate from college. However, I promised them and others that I would be a college graduate. I can not wait to see the smile on Ken's face next time I go home, I have no doubt it will be a huge smile along with a big bear hug. On the other hand, I will miss Rossie's smiling face because I know she has waited along time for me to become a college graduate; after all she has known me since day one. Still, I know I don't have to see her to know how proud she is of me- because I just know she is.

Another neighbor that has really helped inspired me to gain a college degree is the Purtiz family. I have been so lucky to have been called there second daughter nearly all my life. I can't even begin to describe how much they have helped me and inspired me over the years. Let's just say they gave me my best friend (Elise). Mike and Judy have always supported me, celebrated with me and have always been there for me.

I know many people are so proud of me and that makes me really happy. I really appreciate having so many wonderful people in my life that have supported me in making correct and wise decisions. I'm grateful for those who have valued their education themselves and have used there education to teach me in all aspects of life.

Graduation was a wonderful overall experience. It was awesome that Bryce was right by my side to walk across the stage together. Bryce has really has helped me in so many ways accomplish this goal. Our individual goals of graduating from college were truly strengthened once we were married. We never wanted that diploma so badly as we did once we were married. We like to encourage our friends to get as much schooling possible before marriage but we know that it is possible to do together.

The ceremony was full of hope for the future. I learned so many things from the different speakers. If you have a chance to watch BYU's April 2009 Graduation on-line I would highly recommend it.

I was an overall wonderful graduation celebration; with both families in town and my best friend Elise (she is family) the entire weekend was truly one for the books. I could not have asked for anything more. I will always remember our graduation and all those who have supported us in our dreams. Both parents, the Nelson's and Goettels really went all out in celebrating our accomplishments. Thank you, thank you. We love you all.

Spring General Conference 2009

Conference was wonderful this year as always. It's so much fun with Mom and Dad Goettel . They come up for Conference weekend fun! We always have a great time eating at our favorite places and shopping.

However, the best part of the weekend is going to the Conference Center together and hearing the words of peace, encouragement to do better and love from the mouths of living day prophets. I feel so blessed to know that we have living day prophets here upon the earth that guide us and direct us. I know by listening and following what they tell us we can find peace, joy and happiness in the world that we live in.

Chicago "The Windy City!

Bryce and I were invited to our dear friends Savannah and Dan Rodriguez wedding in March this year. Since the wedding was in Chicago we just had to turn it into a weekend vacation. Let me tell you, the weekend was so incredibly fun and memorable. We stayed downtown Chicago in the Magnificent Mile area. This area of Chicago is worthy of the title. It was glorious and truly magnificent to see all the tall buildings (including a 5 story Nordstroms), famous restaurants and hotels. We truly didn't have enough time to experience all that Chicago has to offer. But here are some things that we did get to do.

Friday we arrived in the Chicago airport just in time to get our rental car, get the the hotel and to race to Lou Malnatti's for their famous Chicago pizza. When we first heard the wedding was in Chicago Bryce and I jumped at the opportunity looking up the best places to eat and speaking to many Chicago natives. Lou Malnatti's didn't let us down. However, their house salad is to die for, can I say it was better than there awesome pizza? Bryce and I really enjoyed ourselves running around the "Magnificent Mile" area the entire day. Bryce said, that I looked like a little girl in a candy shop. No I didn't make any clothing purchases but I enjoyed every minute of it.

Saturday we woke up really early to pick up Mom and Dad Goettel from the airport. We then all went back to bed and woke up a few hours later to hurry to the Chicago LDS Temple. But before we could make it to the Temple we had to make a stop at TJ MAX to get a tie for Bryce (he forgot) and we stooped at Trader Joe's for some breakfast goodies including our favorite chocolate covered raisins!

Once we arrived to the temple we found out we got there before the Groom. Let's just say flying in the day before YOUR wedding isn't a good idea. Since the Chicago Temple wasn't busy on a Saturday afternoon in March they were able to postpone the wedding an hour or so. The ceremony was small, intimate, spiritual and funny-- Dan forgot the ring in his locker, Bryce went to get it and when he gave it to Dan he was stabbed by his pin holding his name tag.

We knew we liked Savannah a lot before the wedding but after we grew to LOVE her very quickly! She is spunky, outgoing, talkative, and very sweet. Her entire family, including Grandma kept us entertained. The reception was held in a very small town in Indiana with wonderful people. We all enjoyed ourselves so much; we are hoping to receive an invitation for their family reunion!

On Sunday we woke up, went to church and of course went out to dinner. We went to Lawry's Prim Rib. It was vintage, beautiful setting, and an all around yummy experience once again. Not only did Bryce and I have a great weekend together but we had a wonderful weekend being part of the wedding and spending time with Mom and Dad.

The only sad part about the weekend was leaving while wanting to stay another day or two :) Maybe I can convience Bryce to take me back to the "Windy City" sometime soon!

Bryce's Birthday Party

We celebrated our 2nd annual birthday bash for Bryce last month. Let me tell you a little about his birthday celebrations....

On Bryce's actual birthday I surprised him with See's candy on his desk with a nice note (he has been studying a lot lately but that's another story), yummy cookies in the refrigerator with another note and mint covered oreo's in the freezer- yes with another cute note!

I really wanted to make his day special even though: I had work from 8-5, he had to study all day, I had young women's that night and he had cubs.

However, I was not the only supporter in making his day special. We are so grateful for wonderful friends and family. For lunch Chelsie and Clark meet us for lunch and yes it was a surprise for Bryce. Chelsie and Clark are wonderful friends and we are so lucky to have them in the ward with us. The four of us can talk for hours and have no clue how much time has past. I love it! At the end of lunch he asked me, "Did you arrange for them to meet us for lunch". haha He went through all of lunch wondering if this was an awkward meeting or not at Tacos Nacos. So funny!

For dinner Mark and Kathy our Utah parent's took us to Bonsai. It's a wonderful Japanese Stake House!!! It's been our tradition with them the past year to celebrate each other's birthday there. We love Mark and Kathy and are so grateful that they have adopted us into there family. I love how comfortable we can be with them and let me tell you... the four of us are very comfortable together! We can see each other every day and still happen to have the best conversations and yummy food!

Mom and Dad Goettel spoiled Bryce with a very nice pair of Ugg boots among other nice gifts that were very thoughtful.

Mom and Dad Nelson gave Bryce a gift card to his favorite store (Nordstroms)! I know sometime's you wouldn't know when he walks around town in pj's and slippers. But Bryce can really dress up nicely!

The day of surprises wasn't over (even though Bryce thought they were) because Jared and Kathleen came over and brought a key lime pie with them- his favorite! Jared and Kathleen are now engaged and we are so excited for them as they transition into husband and wife. They will be moving to California soon and that makes us very sad.

I planned his "Birthday Bash" for the following Saturday. The night included nearly 20 friends eating at PFChangs downtown Salt Lake, a night at the Marriott so that friends could join us and go swimming and breakfast at the Marriott with Jared and Kathleen.

All in all, I have to say I pulled off an amazing birthday for Bryce and couldn't have done it without the help of many of you. We love you and appreciate your friendship.

It's been forever!

I know, I know it's been forever since I have blogged and by now I bet no one has looked at our blog for months and could careless. However those that do care, I plan on getting everyone caught up and involved in the wonderful life of Nicole and Bryce. This is going to be a long post but, I hope you find it interesting!

Bryce finished his very last semester at BYU. It was a very difficult semester to say the least but, he made it! He took Financial Economics, Economics of the Labor Market, Public Economics, Health Living and Book of Mormon. I, Nicole am thrilled that he has graduated and I am so proud of the man that he is. He has a new job or may I say his lifelong carer has began with more heavy studying for tests that will make him a certified financial advisor.

I on the other hand had a busy semester myself. Between going to work each day in Sandy and running down to Provo each afternoon for classes was enough to keep me constantly on the move. I took some interesting classes such as Family Finance, LDS Marriage and Family, Parent and Child Guidence, Health and Lifestyle Management, and some not too fun of classes Living Prophets (because of the teacher) and Statistics because of the subject itself! But I got through it, learned a bunch and that's all that matters. I also have had the privilege of being a councilor in the Young Women's program in our ward. It's also a lot of time but so rewarding. I love the girls and the leaders! I also experienced my 22nd birthday and celebrated it with many wonderful friends. I am so grateful for good friends, this is one of my blessings from the Lord that helps me each day. For my birthday, Bryce allowed me to plan an amazing birthday bash in Park City. My best friend Elise came in from Colorado for the occasion and that made the weekend even more special. It was fun to be with good friends, eat good food, go in the spa and of course shop till we dropped! Who could ask for more?

Bryce and I made a goal when we became engaged. It was that if we could go to school full time (12- 17 credits) at a time and work nearly full time we would save and go on a trip when he graduated and again when I graduate. So I'm thrilled to announce our goal was achieved or should I say half of our goal was achieved in December, I will be graduating in April. Bryce graduated and chose for us to go to the Dominican Republic.

First we went home to celebrate Christmas with both Families. It was so fun being home for such a long time, 6 days! That's the longest we have ever been home since we have been married. Being married and having two families is so fun! Bryce and I got double spoiled for Christmas!

For those that do not know, Bryce served as a missionary for our church in the Dominican Republic for two years. It was such a critical growing point in his life so I always felt that it would be important for me to experience the culture that he grew to love so much and to see the people whom influenced his life greatly. I had a few concerns about the Dominican Republic after hearing him and his buddies telling me for the past two years all the awful stories!

However, we planned the trip together and it was a blast! I think for me the coolest part was feeling rewarded for setting and accomplishing our goal and following through with the reward. Setting and achieving goals as a married couple has really strengthen my self esteem and confidence because I know that Bryce and I can go hard things together with the help of the Lord.

The Dominican Republic was a wonderful cultural experience for me because the people live much differently than we do here in the United States. Such as, they buy there food for that one meal at a comodo (little market that are on every corner) and go home and cook and eat right away. This is because most people can't rely on electricity for a refrigerator. In the Dominican Republic we spent a lot of time with one family in particular, they were wonderful. They were amazing cooks and so kind. For those that don't know, because I sure didn't Christopher Columbus actually landed on that Island. As a result that have a lot of European influence on that Island. In fact they have the first built road in "the new world", Christopher Columbus's son Alexandra's mansion and many old buildings. The Dominican Republic is also surrounded by beautiful oceans that happen to be the warmest ocean water I have ever been in! And yes, I have been to Hawaii in June, July and August and we were in the Dominican Republic in January.

Were back in Utah now, trying to adjust to the cold, studying and work. At the same time we are so happy to be home, there really is no place like home. Give us a call if you would like to go out soon. We have missed all our friends very much!

Bryce is the Cub Master in our Ward and he does an amazing job. The boys love him! He makes them laugh, smile and jump. They really look up to him and love to be around him; I guess that makes a lot of us! I am so proud of him. I have only been able to attend a few Cub nights but I love seeing his leadership abilities. Bryce is a natural leader and knows how to have fun and include others.

In case you have not heard the news.... I am now the 2nd councilor of the Young Women in our ward. This means I am no longer the Sunbeam/CTR5 teacher; which makes me sad. But I have really enjoyed the first few weeks of being in young women's. I love the girls and the leaders and I know we are going to have an amazing time together. We have already done a few fun things together. One of which, was tubing down the Provo river in inter tubes. As many of you know I am very adventurous yet cautious and anxious when I'm not fully aware of all possibilities. Well I have yet to hear of an inter tube popping on someone's leg. Yes, I know it's hard for you to picture but let me describe..... We all got our tubes out of the truck and were lined up near the bank of the river getting ready to start. And all of a sudden everyone heard a big pop! Some screamed, others jumped and everyone looked around to see what happened. Shockingly, the tire that popped was mine and the hot thick rubber popped on my leg. Yes, the rubber went up and down my leg. To make things worse my leg swelled and changed colors in seconds. Even if you love shades of pink, purple and blue; I promise you wouldn't like the color on my leg. However, I tried to stay brave and calm but you could see the pain and shock in my eyes (that's what Chelsie say's haha). But I told the girls I was okay and I got in another tube and went down the river. The happenings in the river our numerous to write about but I will tell you if you ask!

Back to school, back to school, to prove to my daddy I'm not a fool!

I know, it's been forever in the blogging world since I have posted updates in our life. How I am finding time to do this now? I do not know. School has started. It's Bryce's last semester at BYU- don't get sad he is very anxious and excited --- let me tell you he can hardly wait! He is like a little boy in the candy shop, he really wants that piece of paper ASAP! Even though I have nearly 3 x's the credits he has to graduate I am working hard to be his #1 cheerleader. I am so proud of him and his hard work and many accomplishments. This is my second to last semester, just one more after Bryce- I am dreaming of the finish line! So for the next few months we won't be home much, instead we will be working hard at work and school. But, don't worry great stories come to pass while I'm at school. Today I was in the long line at Jamba Juice ( my very favorite, almost makes going to school worth it) and thinking how long would someone stay in line to wait for a Jamba Juice. Maybe I'm crazy in love with Jamba or just had nothing better to do between my 50 minute break but I stayed in line for nearly 30 minutes. So let me know how long would you wait?

First Year Anniversary!

Yummy Cake!!!

One year full of growth, hard work, and LOTS OF FUN! When we talk about the past year we feel that it has gone by so quickly but at the same time we feel like we have been married for years because, we know each other so well and love each other so much! For our one year anniversary we went to the Marriott in Park City! Park City was beautiful and the perfect temperature- You can say I have really fallen in love with Park City Utah! It was a perfect two nights and three blissful days. We ate, slept, shopped and played! We went up to the lifts and did the zip line, alpine coaster and alpine slides. Seriously it was so much fun! If you ever want to come visit us and go to Park City we would love to take you or if you live here and want to get away for a few hours we could make time! I told Bryce that Park City was nearly as fun as our honeymoon in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico except no amazing Mexican food and not as long. Love You Bryce! Thanks for taking me away for our anniversary!

Bryce was invited nearly a year ago to go Salmon fishing with his Dad, Cousins, and Uncles in Alaska. We thought how exciting, we could be apart for four days and be fine. Well the first year of marriage went by quickly and soon enough it was time for his trip. Because of travel arrangements it ended up being 5 nights apart! When it came down to it we didn't know how we would survive the separation but I guess when your having fun time flies! I will have to get some pictures of the Boys in Alaska and post them soon. Luckily I was occupied in Southern California with all my favorite Girls. LeAnn picked me up and we meet Cam at BJ'S Pizza (so yummy). Then LeAnn and I went in the spa. The next day LeAnn and I went to the social security office to change my name. It's not abnormal to take a full year after marriage to change my name right? The honest truth is I wasn't waiting for a trial year of marriage before changing my last name I just became too busy between work, school and fun! We also got pedicures! LeAnn and I joined with my Mom, Jessica, and my brother Brett (yes Brett is a seasoned pro with getting pedicures). Then my Mom, Jessica and Elise and I were off to Carlsbad for an over nighter filled with shopping, good food and swimming! It was a blast. Then we were back in Laguna to spend some more time with My family (Dad, Brett and Julia who didn't go to Carlsbad). The trip was wonderful too bad it had to end so poorly at the Long Beach Airport delayed for hours! And guess what I had nothing to do! Seriously I didn't take my lab tap, ipod, or a book! I love flying JetBlue out of Long Beach and figuered I would be on the plan within 15 minutes after going through security and so all would be well for entertainment having my personal tv on the plane. So grateful I have friends that will do anything for me around the clock. Clark and Chelse picked me up aroun 1:30 am in the morning!

Scary Night!

So a couple of weeks ago I came home late from a busy Saturday of fun filled activities and only to notice that our door was wide open! Believe it or not I had some anxiety that is was a dark night, Bryce was working, and I was so tired! After calling Bryce he gave me the advice of either going into the house or waiting outside till he got home- which could of taken along time, didn't want to do that. So I called my parents and my Mom's advice was to call the police, didn't want to do that either. I figured I had not closed the door hard enough and it was a very windy night so most likely nothing was wrong. So I talked to my Dad and his advice was to call one of our friends. And who else closer and so brave than Clark? Me being very embarrassed, called Clark and Chelse asking to come check on the house. Clark came quickly and I was very grateful to see nothing missing and no signs of anyone in the home. Clark left and as I was reviewing my lesson for the next morning a great big dragon fly flew right over me and the kitchen table. That was the worst thing of the whole night! Bryce came home soon and was my protector from the dragon fly! He laughed at me a little bit but that's okay he got the dragon fly out of the house (and I even saw him jump). I love Bryce so much and appreciate him protecting me from all the wild things!

As if the fly story wasn't horrible enough I came across another problem in the same week. Bryce had put his very nice suite in the middle bedroom on the bed for us to take to get dry cleaned. Well, I went to go get it a few days later and noticed some small holes! So I had an anxiety attack wondering what I was going to do and how I was going to tell Bryce. Wives what would you do? Well I called a few people and got some advice. To my surprise a good tailor can fix it! And I learned that this hold house needs to have moth balls or cedar balls in every closet!
